Pool Pavilions & Outdoor Living

The Pool Is the Centerpiece.
We Build the Stage.

We don’t install pools — we design and build everything that makes one worth gathering around: pool pavilions, outdoor kitchens, pool houses, pergolas and decks. Bring us in while the pool is still a drawing, or years after it’s built — either way, we make the whole space come together as one.

A pool you swim in.
A space you live in.

A great backyard isn’t the pool alone — it’s the shade you sit under, the kitchen you cook in, and the room you change in. That’s the part most homeowners forget to plan for, and the part we’ve built our reputation on.

For new builds, we partner with your pool company from the first sketch — so grading, utilities, and structures are planned together instead of bolted on afterward. Already have a pool? We design around what’s there to make it feel finished.

We don’t install pools. We build the pavilions, kitchens, and pool houses that turn one into a place your family actually wants to be — and we work hand-in-hand with your installer to get there.

Two Ways to Start

On the drawing board or already in the ground — we meet your pool where it is.

Some clients bring us in beside their pool designer, before ground is ever broken. Others call years later, when a bare pool deck is ready to become a real entertaining space. Both are exactly where we work.

Path one — new pool on the way

We join the design team at the drawing board

If your pool is still in design, this is the best moment to plan the space around it. We join your pool designer’s team — they lead the design, and we plan the pavilion, kitchen, and deck into it from the first sketch: where the sun sits at 6pm, where the grill smoke drifts, where guests gather.

Path two — pool already in

Turn a finished pool into a destination

Plenty of great backyards start with just a pool and a bare deck. We design around what’s already there — adding the pavilion, outdoor kitchen, or pool house that makes the space work for a crowd — and we handle design, permitting, and construction end-to-end.

From Our Clients

Backyards we’re proud of.

“We had input from the beginning and Deck Creations came back with a rendering and plans. The crew respected the space and kept everything neat. Removed the old deck and built a deck with an open porch. Great finishing touches on the porch which made it unique.”

Chris
Richmond, VA

“My wife and I wanted to take a moment to let you know how pleased we are with the composite deck and pergola you built in our backyard. We needed a “rush” job—for a high school backyard party for 110 junior & senior girls and you completed it with time to spare!”

Jim L.
Richmond, Virginia

“The work done was outstanding. Whenever we had a question it was responded to quickly. They did all they said they would do very efficiently and completed the job when they said they would. Five stars for a job well done!”

Questions

Pool Pavilion Questions?

Do you install pools?

No. We design and build the structures around the pool — pavilions, outdoor kitchens, pool houses, pergolas and decks — and on new builds we coordinate directly with your pool installer so the whole space is planned as one.

Can you add a pavilion or outdoor kitchen to an existing pool?

Yes. Many projects start with a pool that’s already in the ground. We design around what’s there and handle design, permitting, and construction end-to-end.

When should we bring you in on a new pool build?

Ideally during the design phase, so grading, utilities, and sightlines are planned together with your pool company from the first sketch. Pool already underway or finished? We meet the project where it is.

Do you handle permits?

Yes. Permitting is part of our build process — requirements vary by locality, and we take care of them as part of the project.

Where do you work?

Richmond, Charlottesville, Williamsburg, and Hampton Roads in Virginia. In South Carolina, we serve Greenville, Spartanburg, Lake Keowee, and Pickens and Anderson Counties.

How much does a pool pavilion cost?

It depends on size, roof style, foundations, and what’s built into it — lighting, fans, a kitchen, or a bar all change the number. Every project gets a transparent estimate.

What’s the difference between a pavilion and a pergola?

A pavilion has a solid roof — full shade and shelter, with room for fans and lighting. A pergola has an open, slatted top that filters light instead of blocking it. The right choice usually comes down to how much weather protection you want — and if you want both, we offer a louvered aluminum pergola whose roof adjusts on demand: open for sun, closed against rain.

What goes into a pool house?

Most pool houses combine changing space, storage, and a shaded place to sit — and they can include a bathroom, kitchenette, or bar. We design yours around how you entertain.

How long does a pavilion or pool house take to build?

It varies with scope, site, and permitting, so we set schedule expectations up front with your estimate — and keep you updated at every stage of the build.

What decking works best around a pool?

We build with composite lines like Trex and TimberTech as well as wood. Around water, TimberTech Advanced PVC is a popular choice for moisture resistance and low upkeep — we’ll recommend what fits your project.
